Extreme Skier Chris Anthony to provide skier safety tips with Vail Justice

Extreme skier and longtime Vail resident Chris Anthony has partnered with Bloch Ongert to provide daily skier safety tips on Vail Valley radio stations KYZR 97.7FM The Zephyr and 104.7FM The Mile. Chris Anthony skied professionally at an international level and has been featured by the legendary action sports production company Warren Miller Film Team for 23 years. Between film shoots and sponsor appearances, Chris hosts specialized ski programs through his company Chris Anthony Adventures in Colorado, Italy, and Alaska, and also coaches at the Camp of the Superstars in Chile.

Bloch Ongert is pleased to team up with extreme skier Chris Anthony to provide daily skier safety tips to the Vail Valley community. These skier safety tips will provide Colorado skiers and snowboarders with useful safety information and advice. It will enhance their experience and enjoyment on the mountain. It will also limit their chance of injuries or death caused by snow conditions or collisions with other skiers. Safety topics will be wide-ranging and will include the following:

• Duties of skiers and snowboarders imposed by the Colorado Skier Safety Act;
• What to do if you witness or are involved in a ski or snowboard collision;
• Ski helmet usage;
• Tree wells and deep snow immersion;
• Dehydration and sun exposure;
• Ski lift loading and unloading;
• Duties of the uphill snow rider;
• Skiing in the backcountry;
• Responsibilities of the ski lift operator;
• Collisions caused by snowmobiles and grooming vehicles such as snowcats; and
• Other safety guidelines contained in the Colorado Skier Safety Act.
